When purchasing a yacht it is strongly recommended that a qualified surveyor inspects
the vessel and reports to you confidentially. When you make your offer on the yacht
'subject to survey' then the findings of that report will assist you in your decision to
accept the yacht or discuss the price further if significant defects emerge. This survey
can also be required by your insurers and by finance houses if you are purchasing with

Insurers ask for a new survey to be performed after a number of years so that they may
assess the current condition of their liability before extending their cover. Our survey
reports are accepted by major insurance companies.
Hull, machinery and component damage or failure surveys are requested by Insurance
Companies or Underwriters to assess their cause, extent and whether covered by the
insurance policy or not. Owners may also commission such surveys if they are not
satisfied with the Insurers offer of repair or recompense or wish independent appraisal
in a claim. Our survey reports are always impartial.
As an examiner for MECAL, a leading UK certifying Authority, we undertake Compliance,
Stability and Tonnage surveys. MECAL is authorised by the Maritime and Coastguard
Agency to survey and certificate commercial sailing, motor yachts and workboats up to
24 metre Load Line Length.
